About this event:
An event for Family Leadership & Advocacy Bootcamp Graduates
Join Jack Yates, one of the pioneers of person-centered planning, to examine the purposes of this planning process, the crucial importance of composition of the design team (family, staff, the person themselves, and others), the role of the facilitator, and the key steps of content.
The first part of our day will focus on the nuances of practice. We will further explore techniques of asking questions most productively, recording on chart paper, what should precede and follow the design sessions, all illustrated by stories of what has worked well and worked poorly over the decades of practicing person-centered design.
During the second part of our day, we’ll discuss how to support families in making these design sessions happen for their loved ones, no matter their age and all manner of circumstances when these planning sessions may be helpful.
