Department of Developmental Services Statewide Advisory Council Annual State House Celebration Massachusetts State House Individuals, families, providers and other citizens who have contributed to improving the quality of life of individuals with disabilities will be recognized at this annual event. |

Visions of Community 2013- Federation for Children with Special Needs Conference The Visions of Community 2013 conference will feature over 30 workshops in multiple languages, on a range of topics including the IEP process, advocacy, transition, & recreation, and showcasing more than 75 exhibitors. This is also a great time to network with other families and pick up free resources. MFOFC will present a workshop relating to legislative advocacy: Presenter: Dianne Huggon, Statewide Coordinator, MFOFC Description: Human services funding is most often spent on promoting lives that people who are receiving services would not choose for themselves. Neither would members of the public. Learn about the MA21 Disability policy guiding principles that can and should improve public policy that respects and advances full community participation for all individuals with disabilities. The Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council: Disability-Related Bill Sharing Session McCormack Building The purpose is to help create an awareness of bills filed that affect people with disabilities and their families, to educate policymakers and to assist the MDDC and other disability advocacy organizations to develop their 2013-2014 Legislative Priorities. If you want to present bills, send copies of the bills, fact sheets, and any other explanatory information to: Faith Behum, Disability Policy Specialist, no later than January 18, 2013. You may mail your bill(s), fact sheets and other information to the address below or email them to Faith.Behum@state.ma.us.
